Record More Natural Videos With This Free Teleprompter That Follows Your Voice

The best presenters and YouTubers have a natural delivery where they speak directly to the camera. This comes from years of practice as well as good presentation skills.

But if you’re not a skilled presenter (like me), then you need to rely on a teleprompter so you can record yourself reading your script.

Why a normal teleprompter doesn’t help

The problem with most teleprompters is that:

  • The text is not near the camera, so it’s very clear that your eyes are looking elsewhere. Even a few centimetres below the webcam is enough for a viewer to tell that you are reading.
  • The text doesn’t follow your voice, so you either have to (i) cut, scroll down, and start a new take. OR, use an auto-scrolling teleprompter.

So I built Cuekards.com

Cuekards.com is a free online teleprompter that listens to you and advances the script as you speak. And you can reposition the text right under the webcam, so your eyes look to the camera as much as possible.

It also comes with a feature for you paste your script, or just load it from a Google Doc.

If you toggle “follow my voice” for the first time, you will need to download a 64 MB English speech model into your browser just once.

  • Free to use, no sign-up, no watermark, no limit on video length.
  • Fully private. Your recordings all stay on your computer.
  • If you edit the Google Doc, just hit refresh and script updates without reloading.
  • The recording is written to disk every second. If your browser dies mid-recording, you lose just one second, not the entire take.

Vibecoded with proper product management

Even if you use AI to write your code, it’s important to product manage it properly. I planned out the user stories, worked out the architecture and a proper test harness. I used Matt Pocock’s skills to create a proper spec and list of tickets in markdown, as well as agent handover. The loop in Claude Code hands each ticket to a fresh subagent, one at a time, with tests between them. I also used Claude Design to plan out the front end.

Follow-my-voice is English only for now. If you record in Mandarin or Malay, you will need to download a language model for that (coming soon!). Right now, you can only do fixed-speed scrolling for other languages, just like a regular teleprompter.

It runs on desktop Chrome, Edge or Brave, version 120 or newer. No Safari, no Firefox, and no phone or tablet yet. But I think I will create an Android version so you can record using your phone camera and get better quality.

Please try Cuekards.com for your next recording, and if something breaks or you want a feature, let me know!
